Project Stars is a rapid prototype project I pursued after falling victim to the games industry layoff epidemic in 2024. My goal was to learn a little bit about everything I'd need to know to build a narrative RPG in UE5. Branching dialog, reactive NPC character animations, turn-based battle system, stylized environments, even BG3-style skill checks.

I learned a TON with this project and it was my sole pursuit for about 6 months until finally finding employment again in 2025. Try it out and let me know what you think!

Known Issues:

interact prompt doesn't always appear properly
use alt+4 to exit the game; there is no game controls screen
missing art, blockout textures, ghosting face sprites; it's a rapid prototype!
Lyricist boss fight is un-winnable. Bleak.
don't touch the floating cone near the Astronomist; it will auto-complete the quest and skip everything.
dialog is meh needs a rewrite. oh well!
